- He was born defective. His birth was some kind of mistake. He concluded that if his existence was a mistake, it was best to disappear. And he went to bid goodbye to the woman before he died. He made her his wife as an experiment, so it's his natural duty to go tell her of his end. The woman loved Kotomine. Kotomine tried to love the woman. That's all there is to this story.
The end came relatively quickly. "I could not love you." That's all the man said in the room made of stone. The dying woman smiled. She was unable to stand up, because her body was now compose of just skin and bone. "No. You do love me." With a smile, she took her own life. There was no way to stop her, and stopping her was meaningless. The woman had a fatal disease. She would eventually die. He knew that when he chose her. The woman, covered in blood, looked up to the man and smiled. "See. You're crying." He wasn't crying, of course. It's just that the woman saw it that way. The woman used her death to prove to him that he could love, and that he deserved to live. The man silently left the room and broke away from the teachings of God.
"He cuts off his thought process whenever the answer flickers in his head. It's something that should be hidden forever. The woman's death was meaningless. Her devotion couldn't change him. But the man didn't want to consider her death to be worthless. So he stopped searching for answers."
You know the writing's good when you actually feel deep sympathy to a psychopathic, heartless (literally in one case), murderer. Even though he literally could not love someone and finds committing atrocities the only thing to be fun, that didn't stop him from caring about the person he should most in the best way he could, from a philosophical standpoint.
Before I could finish, my father laughed. He made a face like he didn't even need to hear the rest. After breathing in, Emiya Kiritsugu said… "Yeah ---- I'm relieved." He quietly closed his eyes and ended his life.
This song playing at Fate route Day 14 was so good! “That makes me realize. She’s strong, yet so weak. Her gallant figure must be proof that she could live without anybody’s help. But she’s also so weak that my hand might go through her if I reach out. She can’t do it alone, but she defends her pride until the end. ---That’s why… It was the same for me, watching stars that cannot be reached. …She stares at the distant set sun, as if she knows nothing else. I can’t leave her alone. If I lost, then it was a complete loss for me. It made me swear to myself that I would never let her make such a face.”
"It's more painful for you right? So let's go home. You can complain once you get home." ...That's why I wanted to go home as quickly as possible. She doesn't have to act that strong. Tohsaka can let everything out once she's back in her own room at home.

Yeah. Honestly mind of steel and SLH hit so hard arguably because of how the Taiga dojo is presented afterwards. No Matter how sad the ending, the dojo is there to cheer you up with silly music and stupid antics. But in those two endings the tone is still sad and serious.
@@r.k845 The whole Mind of Steel ending was creepy and the tiger dojo after it reeked of hopelessness. Ik people don't like the vagueness of the ending, but that made it scarier for me.
For me this is always the sad flashback OST “Turns out being a hero is a limited time thing.” “...then I’ll become one in your place.” “I see. That’s a relief.” “The man I called my father closed his eyes as his life ended.”
"……Geez. I can't be complaining about Shirou." A faint voice. It's the voice she's always dreamed of. The voice of Tohsaka Rin that's relentless, but warm and kind. Rin thinks to herself. …It's nothing special. She just realized when it counted the most. Right when she saw Sakura up close, she realized she couldn't kill her. "……Geez. I'm stupid." …She's dumbfounded. Her foolishness must be absolute if she doesn't realize it until the very last moment. She should've realized it earlier. …But Rin's convinced that it can't be helped. "…Yeah, it can't be helped. I can't ignore a slouch. I like orderly schemes, and it irritates me when people aren't repaid for their efforts." And first of all… "I like you, Sakura. I've always watched you, and I wanted you to smile. …Yeah. I wanted to believe that you had it better the more I suffered. I was so preoccupied with that, so I didn't even have time to think about if it was painful or not." She embraces Sakura with love. A once-in-a-lifetime embrace between sisters. She softly embraces her sister, who pierced her stomach, and holds her there like a treasure. "Neesan" ……Her warmth fades. There's no complaint. Tohsaka Rin regrets, not her death, but her inability to save her sister. "I'm sorry I'm a selfish sister. …And thanks. I'm glad you always wore that ribbon."
...So this is one end that cannot be changed. She worked so hard, and was resented, and betrayed. No one ever realised that she loved the people more than the country, and she was always the merciless king. She was never rewarded or understood. On the red hill of swords, the solitary girl who was always betrayed is about to face death -
Every time I heard this in Fate Route during Shirou's reminiscence dreams about Saber, I didn't understand the melody to it's fullest. I knew it was supposed to be a tender reminiscence track, but on the last reminiscence scene for Saber, it clicked as an incredibly sad and emotionally provoking reminiscence theme, despite it's incredibly simplistic melody. I almost cried during that scene. To all the composers of the F/SN soundtrack, thank you for a wonderful experience in sound.
I haven't heard this in like a decade since I played the VN, but then it popped into my recommendations. VN music really sticks with you after hearing it for so long during a playthrough.
I kinda feel a bit nostalgic listening to this song and seeing this picture. It makes me remember all the emotions I had when I was reading the visual novel for the first time. It kind of makes me want to go back to it and read these fantastic stories all over again. My favorite route will always be Heaven's Feel, while I will admit that the Unlimited Blade Works route did come pretty close to being my favorite as well. As for the Fate route, I will admit that it was good as well, but the other two routes just blew me away. However though it was quite the experience reading all three routes, and I would love to have the time to sit down and read them again. Long live Type-Moon and their wonderful creations.

Here's a piece of the visual novel, same dialogue, same OST. Enjoy...... 12th day: Foreigner's cemetery/Tohsaka Rin (VII) …My wound hurts. The sweat on my forehead drips down to my eyes and my vision wavers. “Haa…… guh.” Even walking hurts my wound. It hurts every time I take a step, and my strides are getting shorter. “…Emiya-kun?” She turns back to me, as I am falling behind. …Then. Tohsaka suddenly looks at me seriously. “Let’s rest for a bit. It should be hard for you even to walk.” “Huh…? No, I’m fine. I can bear this. We need to get home as soon as possible.” To the Emiya or Tohsaka household. It doesn’t matter, but we should get Tohsaka back to her home ground. “Don’t worry about my wound. It’s not like there’s poison in there.” I ignore Tohsaka’s stare and keep walking. “!” …How pitiful. My knee’s about to give out right after I say so. “See! You’re pushing yourself too much. It’s suicidal to fight against Kuzuki with that wound of yours. Take a rest. They won’t come after us.” “…I’d assume so, but let’s go home as quickly as possible. It’s not that painful.” “Hey now…! Don’t say it’s not painful when you’re bleeding so much! I don’t know why you want to go home so bad, but we should rest for now, right!?” She scolds me. …Oh, so she’s not back to par yet, huh? Her usual coolness isn’t there. She’s very emotional, so her anger will be unstoppable if the brakes give way. “Are you listening to me!? You’re not like Kirei, so it’s troubling to have you leave a trail of blood after you! First of all, why did it end up like this!? I know I told you to go to the church, but couldn’t you tell it was dangerous right away!?” “…Hey now. I was able to tell right away. I knew something bad was happening the moment I saw the church.” “! You should’ve gone home right then, you idiot! Not only that, but you came in with that wound of yours and used projection again! It’s natural for your wound to get worse! And you’re saying it’s not painful!? Geez, what’s wrong with you!? Why would you push yourself so hard…!!!!?” Tohsaka roars out without stop. …But well… It really isn’t that painful, and “It’s more painful for you, right?” “” “So let’s go home. You can complain once you get home.” …That’s why I wanted to go home as quickly as possible. She doesn’t have to act that strong. Tohsaka can let everything out once she’s back in her own room at home. “What?” “!” She wipes her face like she made a mistake and turns away. “Ahehum…” I-I can’t think of anything to say. That was… “…I can’t believe it. A guy made me cry.” She murmurs while looking down. Then. “…! T-Tohsaka, your hand…! You’re holding my hand…!” “Shut up. Take responsibility, you idiot.” “Ehhold on, my wound’s hurting…! Don’t pull on my LEFT hand…!” It’s the foreigners’ cemetery. Tohsaka walks over to the grassy area and finally lets go of my hand. “Hey, Tohsaka. We don’t have time to be playing around” “Sit down. Just sit down for now.” “……” She does not let me object, so I sit down. “And turn your back to me. Don’t turn this way, okay? I’ll get really angry if you look at my face.” I hear a sound behind me. “……?” We sit down on the grass with our backs to each other. …I don’t get why she’s doing this. Tohsaka is silent, and she told me not to turn around. I don’t have anything to do, so I look up at the sky. “” I gasp at how big it is. Is it because I’ve been underground so long, or is it because the sky is clear tonight? Anyways, the winter night sky is so beautiful that it makes me forget about my wound. The warmth of Tohsaka’s body on my back doesn’t bother me either. I look up at the black sky, forgetting about everything for now. How long have we been sitting like this? The silent girl starts to talk in a calm voice. “I’m just talking to myself.” …I see. I can’t reply if she’s just talking to herself. I’ll keep staring at the night sky.

This visual novel really has inspired me. There is just something about Type Moon's vn's that make it great. I don't know how to describe it. Playing through a type moon vn is just an experience everyone should have. Thank you for putting a 20 min loop of my favorite OST in the vn. Every time I think of Fate Stay Night, I remember this OST. Thank you so much!
I dont know how many years its been since I read the original visual novel, but this BGM has never left my mind and I need to re-listen to it once in a while.
"Demo....Sa..ber....arigato....." ~But Sa..ber....thank you...you saved me many times~ -Shirou Fate HF Route, "And I feel the faiding of a body that once protected me this whole time"

This wouldn't change even if i valued my life above all. Your more beautiful than that. There's nothing inside me that can take your place."
stalwartarjuna I plan to fix this fuckup myself once I can get a hand on them BD's dammit Ufotable, making me add the music myself, damn lazy bastards..... (I call the arguably greatest animation studio out right now lol)
Yeah, exactly! Whenever I say stuff about preferring Rin with Shirou people take offense, like I don't care for Saber. She doesn't really need Shirou in a romantic way, but the other two girls do. I feel bad for Sakura and all... but I don't really want him with her either. Rin is there for Shirou in every single route, and saved his life right at the beginning. Plus... Archer. I just can't help but love Shirou with Rin.
When reading the visual novel, this was the song that I looked forward to hearing, it fit so well with the feel of the novel, that it just seamlessly tied everything together. For the record: Illya/Rin>Saber>Sakura
Please don't fade away Can this moment stay? The night sky shines only for one star A feeble light that flickers from afar Like seeing stars through a clear telescope You can’t touch their shine But do not lose hope That distant dream that you’ve long to see You’d stand all alone on the cold hill Gazing forever under the dim dusk veil Close your eyes quietly Listen to your heartbeat Bittersweet kind lies Drip from your jewel eyes One by one tears fall like forlorn snow Such beauty, only seen through sorrow A glory sprinkled in gold fairy dust But like a dream This scene can’t last Gentle hues shiver under the moon As rain drenches your brisk-pale face May this ever-present feeling be your light Throughout the darkness And this winter night Bright lonely star Fate shakes your heart
This bgm is so beautiful and makes me recall so many of this game's plot, that it almost makes me cry. It is a very fitting song for all the revelations that the characters had in the game regarding their lives or their personal feelings, such as, Shirou's feelings, Kotomine Kirei's feelings and so forth, it's a very memorable piece that's almost too pleasing to the ears... calling almost nostalgic feelings, if our real lives had any kind of BGM, this would certainly be one of them.
Heavenly music, this unknown "feelings" that has been touching me resounds over my soul imagining my self being "Present" in the middle of the moon light inviting me in the soft landscape. How I wish this would last. It would be the most dreamy night "Ever". No wonder this song is called "Ever-Present-Feeling" (Don't mind me, I'm Expressing my self being lost in my thoughts while listening in the middle of the night)
Fate/Stay Night really is something special, I never played/read something like this before. It really pulls you in and let's you feel with the characters. You feel their fear, their hope and their love. And then there is this song, with its simple yet beautiful melody. It really adds great emotion to the scenes, especially those where SPOILER Shirou and Saber fight Gilgamesh and before Saber disappears. /SPOILER Thank you for uploading this great piece of music!
Haha... Anyway, the reason is that the first time you hear this song is in the Prologue when Rin save's Shirou's life from being stabbed by Lancer. Also, the cover art for Eleison (the Code ZTS album with their Fate/stay night remixes) shows the same scene of Dark Saber having been stabbed by Shirou. It does make sense. :P
I don'n know why but I want to cry. Why has Saber been betrayed when she was alive? She not deserved such a terrible end. That music reminds me that time inevitably moves. When I hear that music I hate time and all changings in my life...
She pushed away from her happiness in the hopes of keeping everyone else's, this weight she put on her like the sword in the stone, could not be pulled off her by just anyone as she strayed away from those who could not hold the same ideal to make a utopia real, resulting into a regret causing her to chase a miracle repeatedly, who knows, maybe each of the times she chases it the regret remains and transport into the original Kiritsugu pushed away from his humanity to do what he thought needed to be done (sacrificing one for the whole) but in the end, he ended up sacrificing himself and everything he had hoped for in the process Heroic Spirit Emiya, wandering an infinite empty land as every step means another blade carving deeper into his regrets, unknown to his beginning as well as his end one would think to obtain the miracle that could free them from this fate is one of the only ways to save them from the unfair deal they made. but, all it takes is a young boy with an ideal that drives him into an unstoppable force to move this object chaining them, even if he can remove it for a few moments but as long as this boy can find anywhere in time(I am referring to Shirou or someone that can do what he managed to do with them begin found anywhere in time)those stuck in such an unjust fate, the chains can keep on begin moved to
DAMNIT! Still a well done scene but DAMNIT MAN. Ever-present Feeling needs more use! Now I doubt strongly we'll see Light and Darkness in the manliest fist fight ever.
Rin is a crying little bitch and a fucking weakling. but hey she's strong enough to take down caster a world class magus and also strong enough to bear the corruption of the holy Grail in which Saber (King Arthur) with her legendary sword wasn't able to accomplish because the plot demands this Bullshit
@@hayden8571 say what? Angra Mainyu wasn't being summoned on UBW or Fate so it's plausible to understand that the corruption pool wasn't as strong when Rin or Shirou entered it, Rin managed to kill Berserker one time and survived a Kotomine beating, Caster fight wasn't meant to be a magic vs magic fight so it's logical for Rin to go hand to hand since she has said that she needed to learn how to defend herself without magic prior the Caster fight. So if you hate Rin just hate her and don't bring "facts", it's more fun to hate a character without a reason than hating the character and fabricate stuff to support said hate.
It just got used in Fate/Kaleid Liner, I actually posted that I suspected it had been used when the episode with it first ran, but couldn't be sure. Now that the full OST is out, it is indeed Ever Present Feeling, the new version is named Shoujo Wa Omoide
Yeah, but Prisma*Ilya was made by Silver Link. Since Ufotable often works with Yuki Kajiura is not sure if they will use the tracks from the game. They shoud do it, though, since the Soundtrack from the VN was remade for the VITA release.
Emiya was in Fate/Zero and to avoid spoilers for others I'll just say the song is a lot more relevant in F/SN than it is in F/Z. I wouldn't worry about it.
Sunderland302 Yeah Fate/Zero had remakes of Emiya and Excalibur. The F/SN remake will almost without a doubt have versions of those and This Illusion no matter what however, so the real question is what else will get ported over. Honestly, I'm really hoping for Die Lorelei and maybe The Mighty Wind.
How did I miss that? In which part of /Zero plays Emiya? I remember Sword of Promised Victory being played in the battle of Mion River, though I can't remember Emiya being played, could you post a link please?

After breathing in, Emiya Kiritsugu said…
"Yeah ---- I'm relieved."
He quietly closed his eyes and ended his life.

---That’s why…
It was the same for me, watching stars that cannot be reached.
…She stares at the distant set sun, as if she knows nothing else.
I can’t leave her alone. If I lost, then it was a complete loss for me. It made me swear to myself that I would never let her make such a face.”
"It's more painful for you right? So let's go home. You can complain once you get home."
...That's why I wanted to go home as quickly as possible. She doesn't have to act that strong. Tohsaka can let everything out once she's back in her own room at home.
This is why I ship these two, seriously you don't get this kind of talk with saber and Sakura.

This song and taiga telling Shirou that he did a good job in the tiger dojo is what made sparks liner high worth doing
For me this is always the sad flashback OST

HFの君を忘れる、よりUBWの士郎と凛の背中合わせで語ってるシーンがなんか自分としてはしっくりくる…
"……Geez. I can't be complaining about Shirou."
A faint voice.
It's the voice she's always dreamed of.
The voice of Tohsaka Rin that's relentless, but warm and kind.
Rin thinks to herself.
…It's nothing special.
She just realized when it counted the most.
Right when she saw Sakura up close, she realized she couldn't kill her.
"……Geez. I'm stupid."
…She's dumbfounded.
Her foolishness must be absolute if she doesn't realize it until the very last moment.
She should've realized it earlier.
…But Rin's convinced that it can't be helped.
"…Yeah, it can't be helped.
I can't ignore a slouch. I like orderly schemes, and it irritates me when people aren't repaid for their efforts."
And first of all…
"I like you, Sakura. I've always watched you, and I wanted you to smile. …Yeah. I wanted to believe that you had it better the more I suffered.
I was so preoccupied with that, so I didn't even have time to think about if it was painful or not."
She embraces Sakura with love.
A once-in-a-lifetime embrace between sisters.
She softly embraces her sister, who pierced her stomach, and holds her there like a treasure.
"Neesan"
……Her warmth fades.
There's no complaint.
Tohsaka Rin regrets, not her death, but her inability to save her sister.
"I'm sorry I'm a selfish sister.
…And thanks. I'm glad you always wore that ribbon."
One of the most powerful scenes in the whole visual novel honestly.

By far the most fitting song of the whole VN.

12th day: Foreigner's cemetery/Tohsaka Rin (VII)
…My wound hurts.
The sweat on my forehead drips down to my eyes and my vision wavers.
“Haa…… guh.”
Even walking hurts my wound.
It hurts every time I take a step, and my strides are getting shorter.
“…Emiya-kun?”
She turns back to me, as I am falling behind.
…Then.
Tohsaka suddenly looks at me seriously.
“Let’s rest for a bit. It should be hard for you even to walk.”
“Huh…? No, I’m fine. I can bear this. We need to get home as soon as possible.”
To the Emiya or Tohsaka household.
It doesn’t matter, but we should get Tohsaka back to her home ground.
“Don’t worry about my wound. It’s not like there’s poison in there.”
I ignore Tohsaka’s stare and keep walking.
“!”
…How pitiful. My knee’s about to give out right after I say so.
“See! You’re pushing yourself too much. It’s suicidal to fight against Kuzuki with that wound of yours. Take a rest. They won’t come after us.”
“…I’d assume so, but let’s go home as quickly as possible. It’s not that painful.”
“Hey now…! Don’t say it’s not painful when you’re bleeding so much! I don’t know why you want to go home so bad, but we should rest for now, right!?”
She scolds me.
I know I told you to go to the church, but couldn’t you tell it was dangerous right away!?”
“…Hey now. I was able to tell right away. I knew something bad was happening the moment I saw the church.”
“! You should’ve gone home right then, you idiot! Not only that, but you came in with that wound of yours and used projection again! It’s natural for your wound to get worse! And you’re saying it’s not painful!? Geez, what’s wrong with you!? Why would you push yourself so hard…!!!!?”
Tohsaka roars out without stop.
…But well…
It really isn’t that painful, and
“It’s more painful for you, right?”
“”
“So let’s go home. You can complain once you get home.”
…That’s why I wanted to go home as quickly as possible.
She doesn’t have to act that strong.
Tohsaka can let everything out once she’s back in her own room at home.
“What?”
“!”
She wipes her face like she made a mistake and turns away.
“Ahehum…”
I-I can’t think of anything to say.
That was…
“…I can’t believe it. A guy made me cry.”
She murmurs while looking down.
Then.
“…! T-Tohsaka, your hand…! You’re holding my hand…!”
“Shut up. Take responsibility, you idiot.”
“Ehhold on, my wound’s hurting…! Don’t pull on my LEFT hand…!”
It’s the foreigners’ cemetery.
Tohsaka walks over to the grassy area and finally lets go of my hand.
“Hey, Tohsaka.
We don’t have time to be playing around”
“Sit down. Just sit down for now.”
“……”
She does not let me object, so I sit down.
“And turn your back to me. Don’t turn this way, okay? I’ll get really angry if you look at my face.”
I hear a sound behind me.
“……?”
We sit down on the grass with our backs to each other.
…I don’t get why she’s doing this.
Tohsaka is silent, and she told me not to turn around.
I don’t have anything to do, so I look up at the sky.
“”
I gasp at how big it is.
“I’m just talking to myself.”
…I see. I can’t reply if she’s just talking to herself. I’ll keep staring at the night sky.
That scene (in it's entirety, not just this snippet) is probably the single best written section of literature Nasu's ever written, IMO.

That distant dream that you’ve long to see
You’d stand all alone on the cold hill
Gazing forever under the dim dusk veil
Close your eyes quietly
Listen to your heartbeat
Bittersweet kind lies
Drip from your jewel eyes
One by one tears fall like forlorn snow
Such beauty, only seen through sorrow
A glory sprinkled in gold fairy dust
But like a dream
This scene can’t last
Gentle hues shiver under the moon
As rain drenches your brisk-pale face
May this ever-present feeling be your light
Throughout the darkness
And this winter night
Bright lonely star
Fate shakes your heart

It is a very fitting song for all the revelations that the characters had in the game regarding their lives or their personal feelings, such as, Shirou's feelings, Kotomine Kirei's feelings and so forth, it's a very memorable piece that's almost too pleasing to the ears... calling almost nostalgic feelings, if our real lives had any kind of BGM, this would certainly be one of them.

I don'n know why but I want to cry. Why has Saber been betrayed when she was alive? She not deserved such a terrible end. That music reminds me that time inevitably moves. When I hear that music I hate time and all changings in my life...
She pushed away from her happiness in the hopes of keeping everyone else's, this weight she put on her like the sword in the stone, could not be pulled off her by just anyone as she strayed away from those who could not hold the same ideal to make a utopia real, resulting into a regret causing her to chase a miracle repeatedly, who knows, maybe each of the times she chases it the regret remains and transport into the original
Kiritsugu pushed away from his humanity to do what he thought needed to be done (sacrificing one for the whole) but in the end, he ended up sacrificing himself and everything he had hoped for in the process
Heroic Spirit Emiya, wandering an infinite empty land as every step means another blade carving deeper into his regrets, unknown to his beginning as well as his end
one would think to obtain the miracle that could free them from this fate is one of the only ways to save them from the unfair deal they made. but, all it takes is a young boy with an ideal that drives him into an unstoppable force to move this object chaining them, even if he can remove it for a few moments
but as long as this boy can find anywhere in time(I am referring to Shirou or someone that can do what he managed to do with them begin found anywhere in time)those stuck in such an unjust fate, the chains can keep on begin moved to

Smug I agree. Best girl by far
While I prefer Saber, I do really like her in UBW anime.
If Ufotable don't use Ever-present Feeling in the new F/sn anime (most probably an anime, not really sure) I will be fucking mad. Same with Emiya.
This Illusion has now made it into FS/N UBW, so still plenty of hope for a new version of Ever-Present Feeling to get in.
It may play when rin and shirou share a special moment
Fingers crossed
They better play this during the hug since to make up for not playing it during the confession scene in UBW.
